Description of the Project:
The construction of the Primary Road (Vertical Road) linking the new Limassol Port with the Limassol-Paphos Motorway and the National Motorway Network in general, was co-financed by the Cohesion Fund. The Project is an integral part of the Trans-European Road Network (TEN-T).

As part of the project, the section of the Vertical Road was originally constructed from the southwest entrance of the new port to the container area, ending at the intersection with the old Limassol-Paphos Road (Paphos Street), with four roundabouts at the new entrance and the intersections of Roosevelt Avenue, Epitheus Street and Paphos Road. The construction of the Vertical Road is completed with the construction of the Intersection at the junction of the road with the Limassol-Paphos Motorway and the construction of what is known as the Parallel Road, which is situated along the northern border of Limassol Port.

Expected Results:
The project is expected to have significant and multiple benefits, including traffic decongestion in the city of Limassol, as the wider urban area of Omonia Avenue is bypassed and there will be no need to follow the route through the city center. In addition, the travel time to and from Limassol port will be reduced, improving competitiveness and providing long term economic growth.
