Description of the Project:
The IT System for the introduction and the development of the General Health System in Cyprus (GHS) is being developed with the co-funding from the European Regional Development Fund. The main functions of the System include the registration, storage and administration of GHS  beneficiaries, the enrolment and administration of Healthcare Providers, the administration of the Personal Doctors’ beneficiary catalogues, the creation and administration of catalogues for all services that will be reimbursed by the GHS, referral management, electronic prescriptions, laboratory test management (including Doctors’ prescriptions, storage and sending results out) and the creation of the Electronic Patient File, with the addition to it, of medical information included in the reimbursement claims by the providers. The IT System will also handle the providers’ reimbursement claims, it will calculate their reimbursement and it will support the accounting functions of the Health Insurance Organisation, as well as handle its budget and liquidity functions. 

 
Results:
All basic functions relating to the provision of services within the General Health System with be carried out through the IT System. The System will cover the operating functions of the Health Insurance Organisation, as well as those of the providers and beneficiaries.
